Virginia-Based Credit Union Trade Association Announces Board Elections
RICHMOND, VA (05/25/2012)(readMedia)-- The Virginia Credit Union League is proud to announce recent election results for its Board of Directors, and a new slate of officers.
• Karen Orie, manager and CEO of Hampton Roads Educators' Credit Union (Hampton), has been re-elected to the Board. She represents credit unions with less than $50 million in assets in Region I, which is comprised of credit unions in Greater Hampton Roads. She has served on the League Board since 2010.
• Suzanne Hodgins, assistant vice president of finance for the University of Virginia Community Credit Union (Charlottesville) has been re-elected to the League Board to represent credit unions with $50 million or more in assets in Region III, comprised of credit unions in Northern Virginia, Charlottesville and the Shenandoah Valley. She has served on the League Board since 2002.
• Nancy Hollyfield, manager and CEO of Mountain Empire Federal Credit Union (Marion), has been elected to represent credit unions with less than $50 million in assets in Region IV, comprised of credit unions headquartered in the Roanoke Valley, Lynchburg, Danville and Southwestern Virginia. She was first appointed to the Board in January 2012.
• Patsy Smith, CEO and Manager of Resources Federal Credit Union, has been elected to a three-year term as an At-Large director. Resources FCU has assets of $17 million and is based in Richmond. This is her first term of service on the League Board.
• Joe Thomas, president and CEO of Fairfax County Federal Credit Union, has been elected to a one-year term on the League Board as an At-Large Director. Fairfax County has assets of $239 million. This is his first term on the League Board.
At its re-organization meeting, the League Board elected the following officers:
• Suzanne Hodgins, of the University of Virginia Community Credit Union, was elected chairman. She has served on the League Board since 2002.
• Paul Phillips, president and CEO of Roanoke-based Freedom First Federal Credit Union, was elected Vice Chairman. He has served on the League Board since 2007 and is an At-Large Director.
• Rose Gilliam, president and CEO at Richmond-based Argent Credit Union, has been elected Secretary. She has served on the League Board since 2011 and is an At-Large Director.
• Karen Orie, manager and CEO of Hampton Roads Educators' Credit Union, has been elected Treasurer. She has served on the League Board since 2010.
