LATHAM, NY (11/10/2011)(readMedia)-- At a ceremony this morning at Community Care Physicians' flagship location in Latham, AT&T presented a $10,000 donation for the Schoharie County Flood Relief Fund as part of Community Care Physicians' three week fundraiser to help local flood victims from the devastating effects of Hurricane Irene. The AT&T donation marks the largest corporate donation given to Schoharie County Flood Relief through Community Care Physicians' fundraiser.
"While Community Care does not provide services in Schoharie County, there are a number of patients who travel to the Capital District for our care," said Jennifer Ruotolo, Director of Materials Management at Community Care Physicians, PC. "As our name suggests, we CARE about the communities where our patients live. This fundraiser was our way of helping the Schoharie County communities affected by Irene. We were thrilled with AT&T's involvement and their generous donation."
Throughout the fundraiser, Community Care Physicians reached out to corporate partners for pledges, coordinated a food drive through Niskayuna school district, a coat drive at its office locations and collected individual donations to be given to Schoharie County Flood Relief Fund. Their fundraising efforts will culminate with a Craft and Vendor Fair on November 10th from 3pm to 7pm at the Capital Region Health Park, 711 Troy-Schenectady Road, complete with a flu clinic, crafters, baked goods, holiday items, home goods, jewelry, and other vendors. The event brings the community together for a day of fun, shopping, and education as they visit with over 50 vendors set up to help raise money for those affected by the flood. Monies collected by Community Care Physicians for table fees, prize drawings, corporate pledges and refreshments will be donated to the Schoharie County Flood Relief program. The event is open to the public with free admittance.
In addition to their corporate pledge, AT&T is getting further involved in the fundraising efforts for Schoharie County by utilizing its company-owned retail locations as collection points for the winter coat drive.
"Your business is very important to us, but just as important are the communities where we live and work every day," said Robert Holliday, vice president and general manager Upstate New York, AT&T. "Many in Schoharie County are still suffering from the effects of the flooding. We're proud to support the fund and urge the community to donate gently used winter coats for their neighbors in need."
Coats will be collected at the following AT&T locations:

"In the days following the flood, our Governor A. Cuomo flew to the region, assessed the damage, and encouraged all who were able to lend a helping hand. Community Care heard our Governor," said Ms. Ruotolo. "This is our way of responding to his call for action and showing support for those in our community who were affected."
So far prior to the Craft and Vendor Fair, Community Care has raised over $18,000 in donations for Schoharie County Flood Relief, and hopes to exceed $30,000 after the Craft and Vendor Fair.
