Community Care Physicians, PC Opens Capital Region's First Pediatric Urgent Care in Clifton Park, NY
LATHAM, NY (11/01/2011)(readMedia)-- Community Care Physicians, PC has opened the area's first Pediatric Urgent Care Center in Clifton Park, NY. The Pediatric Urgent Care Center, located at 1735 Route 9, is the only full service acute care center in upstate New York exclusively for children, providing pediatric medical care for newborns to patients age 18 on a walk in basis. Staffed by Board Certified Pediatricians, the Pediatric Urgent Care can address non-emergent, episodic medical needs Monday through Friday from 6pm to 10pm and on weekends from 12pm to 8pm.
The opening of the Pediatric Urgent Care Center is a milestone in building a cohesive pediatric division within Community Care Physicians. "As a division, we want our Pediatric patients to have access to all the services they need to remain healthy," said Dr. Barbara Morris, Chief Medical Officer and practicing pediatrician for Community Care Physicians. "This unique Urgent Care Center will serve an untapped market for off-hours pediatric care. Clifton Park, in particular, was chosen because of the area's large population of children."
The Pediatric Urgent Care Center can address conditions including cough, cold, infection, gastrointestinal complaints, rash, headache, flu symptoms, minor injury and other similar conditions. Urgent care does not replace regular physician visits. Once initial treatment is completed the patient is then referred to a primary care provider or sub-specialist for further care, if necessary.
"Busy, working parents no longer need to take time off from work or rearrange their daytime schedules to bring their child to the doctor," said Dr. Morris. "The Pediatric Urgent Care can deal with issues when it's convenient for the parent and child."
Offering immediate treatment for episodic health problems improves access to care, reduces the pressure on already crowded hospital emergency rooms, provides faster and easier access for patients, and is a less expensive alternative for the treatment of less serious conditions. This Urgent Care differs from other Urgent Care Centers in the area because it specializes in the treatment of children.
"Patients, in general, want care promptly and easily," said Dr. Morris "Parents especially require immediate care for their children when sick or injured. The Pediatric Urgent Care provides children with the specialized care they need in a more cost-effective, kid-friendly environment seven days a week."
The Pediatric Urgent Care Center in Clifton Park will be able to do basic lab work, such as urine analysis and blood counts, and it accepts most major insurance plans. You do not need to be a patient of Community Care to visit the Pediatric Urgent Care Center. An Electronic Medical Record system is utilized to improve documentation and improve the efficiency of care. This system further assists in the transfer of complete documentation of treatment to the patients' primary care physician for continuity of care following the visit.
Community Care Physicians Pediatric Urgent Care Center is located at 1735 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY, 12065. Hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
