KINGSTON, NY (04/05/2007)(readMedia)-- Breast Cancer Options, will be holding its sixth annual Complementary Medicine Conference Sunday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lecture Center at SUNY New Paltz.

"The conference is for everyone whether or not they have had a breast cancer diagnosis, and serves as a platform to bring together the Public and Healthcare professionals," said Hope Nemiroff, Executive Director, of Breast Cancer Options. "It will provide information on the latest trends, research, and protocols in the field of complementary/integrative healthcare and show how it can partner with traditional medicine for the benefit of patient healthcare."

There will be 18 workshops, covering subjects that address four main areas of Breast Cancer Options' interest -- risk reduction strategies, stress reduction, how best to proceed if you should receive a diagnosis of breast cancer and what lifestyle changes to incorporate.

Workshop topics will include: Complementary Medicine 101-Overview of Therapies; Spirituality and Healing; Nutrition & Supplements for Cancer & Cancer Risk Reduction; Living the Precautionary Lifestyle-Environmental/Lifestyle Influences on Risk Reduction; Understanding the Immune System and Detoxification; Insurance Issues for People with Cancer; Re-framing Fear; Assessing The Risk of Recurrence-ONCOTYPE DX Test; The Rollercoaster of Emotions in Cancer; Making Informed Medical Decisions about Treatments; Addressing Side effects of Cancer Treatments I- Body Image & Intimacy; Side Effects of Cancer Treatment II-Physical issues; Understanding Hormones & Hormone Balancing.

Nemiroff said, "Fear of breast cancer is best overcome by having lots of good, scientifically based information on how to make good medical decisions and build a healthy lifestyle. If a woman gets the diagnosis, however, then she needs information about her options for treatment and how to live post breast cancer treatment. Our conferences traditionally provide women with the newest and best information in both these areas."
