F.S. GABRESKI AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NEW YORK (07/22/2025) (readMedia)-- The New York Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing Will host its annual STEM camp for students in grades 10 to 12 from Friday, August 1 to Sunday August. 3.

Members of the press are invited to cover the camp and can participate in an HC-130J Combat King II flight on August 3.

WHO: Children of Department of Defense personnel, students from local high schools, and members of the 106th Rescue Wing.

WHAT: The Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Camp is designed to inspire and educate students using the technology 1-6th Rescue Wing Airmen use every day to conduct their missions. Participants take part in practical, team-oriented, hands-on exercises to learn and use STEM skills. Students will engage with personnel and equipment from the operations, maintenance, and mission support groups, focusing on areas such as aerodynamics, physics, mathematics, information technology, and engineering.

WHEN: To cover the August 3 events including the HC-130J flight, members of the press must contact Capt. Cheran Campbell no later than 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23. To cover the camp on August 1or 2, reporters must contact Capt. Cheran Campbell no later than 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30.

BACKGROUUND: The 106th Rescue Wing (106 RQW) is a unit of the New York Air National Guard, stationed at Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base, Westhampton Beach, New York. The wing operates and maintains the HC-130J Combat King II, the HH-60G Pave Hawk and the HH-60W Jolly Green II search and rescue aircraft.

The 106th Rescue Wing provides worldwide Personnel Recovery, Combat Search and Rescue Capability, Expeditionary Combat Support, and Civil Search and Rescue Support to Federal and State authorities. We provide Personnel Recovery to the state of New York and deployed operations that we are tasked to support.
