DES MOINES, IA (09/03/2024) (readMedia)-- Zoe Fisher of Waukee was crowned Senior Cowgirl Queen Friday, August 9, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair. Amani Roche of Norwalk was named Junior Cowgirl Queen.
The Junior Cowgirl Queen Attendants include the four runners-up in the competition for young women ages 10 to 15. The attendants are Jorja Decker of Lorimor, Nicole Brownmiller of Mason City, Aylah Fix of Runnells and Katlynn Hanson of Kirkman.
The Senior Cowgirl Attendants are selected from competitors ages 16-26 and include Lola Svec of Cumming, Elivia Papcun of Norwalk, Karly Christensen of Winterset and Taylor McCreedy of Atlantic.
Both Cowgirl Queens received a $500 cash award sponsored by Dewey Ford Ankeny, a belt buckle sponsored by West Fork Ranch, Shane Vaughn, and a monogrammed chair sponsored by Ellsworth College Equine Program. Their attendants also received cash prizes and chairs.
Judges in the Cowgirl Queen contest considered appearance including beauty, attractiveness and appropriateness of western wear and horsemanship.
