ALBANY, NY (09/12/2011)(readMedia)-- The Credit Union Association of New York is pleased to announce that Robyn Young, CEO of Great Erie FCU, has been elected to its board of directors.

Young joined Great Erie FCU as CFO in 2003 and was promoted to CEO a year later. She also serves as treasurer of the Association's Buffalo Chapter. Prior to joining Great Erie FCU, Young was with Riverside Credit Union.

"As a volunteer director, I look forward to working with the Association to represent the interests of all their members-especially those within the $50 million to $100 million asset category," said Young. I am also excited to help forward the credit union movement as a whole."

"We are pleased to have Robyn join our board of directors," stated William J. Mellin, president and CEO of the Credit Union Association of New York. "She brings extensive leadersip experience gleaned from more than 25 years of working within the credit union movement."

Young also serves as a trustee for the New York Credit Union Foundation and as treasurer of both the Orchard Park County Church and Buffalo Engineering for Minorities. She sits on the finance committee of the East Aurora Cooperative Market and is also involved with Jesse's Children Health Mission, which brings groups of volunteer doctors, dentists and optometrists to the Dominican Republic to tend to the people there.

Young has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Hilbert College and is a 2000 CUNA Management School graduate.

Located in Orchard Park, N.Y., Great Erie FCU was chartered in 1952. The credit union currently serves more than 6,500 members and has more than $58 million in assets.
