Credit union young professional Brittney Wensley honored with statewide award

Brittney Wensley was named NYCUA's 2016 Outstanding Young Professional

ALBANY, NY (07/01/2016)(readMedia)-- The New York Credit Union Association recently honored Brittney Wensley, mortgage operations manager at Sunmark Federal Credit Union, with the Outstanding Young Professional Award. The statewide award honors individuals 35 or younger whose commitment, hard work and achievements have enhanced their credit unions or the entire New York credit union movement

Wensley began her career at Sunmark FCU in February of 2009 as a member service representative. She joined the mortgage department in 2012 as a processor and was promoted to team lead within two years. During that time, Wensley completed her bachelor's degree at the College of St. Rose in Albany as an evening student.

Wensley now serves as the mortgage operations manager at Sunmark FCU. In her current role, she has worked to streamline the mortgage process, implemented member communications plans and developed a new processor incentive plan-all while helping the credit union improve their overall member experience.

She has been active in the Capital Region community by participating in credit union-sponsored events that benefit the Ronald McDonald House; Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY; the Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement Program and Housing Organizations Rensselaer County Housing Resources; and more.

Within the credit union system, Wensley served as a member of NYCUA's Young Professionals Commission and the Capital Chapter council. She is also an active credit union advocate, and she has lobbied lawmakers in both Albany and Washington, D.C.
