Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia Aids Fort Hood Victims
LYNCHBURG, VA (11/23/2009)(readMedia)-- The Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia has made a $1,000 donation to aid the Fort Hood Support Fund, established to help the families of those killed and the individuals injured in the Nov. 5 shootings, as well as the Fort Hood community.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones and those injured in the shootings," said Gerrianne Burks, president and CEO of Herndon, Virginia-based Northwest Federal Credit Union and chairman of the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia. "With so many military credit unions based in Virginia, we are especially sensitive to the needs of our brave military men and women. It's important that we show the Fort Hood community that the rest of the nation mourns with them and stands ready to help them in their hour of need."
Virginia-based credit unions interested in supporting the Fort Hood community and those affected by the recent shootings, can contact the Foundation's David Miles at 800.768.3344, ext. 608 or info@creditunionscarefoundation.org.
The Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia was established in May of this year as a non-profit organization dedicated to the charitable, educational and community causes supported by Virginia's member-owned credit unions.
