Credit union professional Twanda Christensen honored with statewide award

(Albany, N.Y.) – Credit union marketer Twanda Christensen was recently honored with the New York Credit Union Association's Outstanding Professional of the Year Award. The award honors professionals who have a true passion for credit unions and who inspire others with their hard work, dedication and success.

Christensen began her career in the credit union movement 13 years ago, and she has served as marketing manager for The Summit Federal Credit Union since 2005. She currently oversees the marketing and communications for the 18-branch credit union.

The credit union's assets have more than tripled during Christensen's time with The Summit. Notably, in 2014, The Summit FCU launched an ambitious plan to implement new products and systems. Christensen played an integral role in researching and carrying out the implementation of the new systems. She has also been instrumental in the credit union's move toward mobile products and services.

A former member of the NYCUA's Young Professionals Commission, Christensen is actively involved with the association's Rochester Chapter, where she serves as a member of the Communications Council and as co-chair of co-operative advertising. Christensen is also deeply involved with local charities in the Rochester area.

The New York Credit Union Association has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 98 years. With more than 5 million memberships, New York credit union assets total more than $70 billion. To learn more about NYCUA, visit www.nycua.org.
