ALBANY, NY (07/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Howard Milstein, Chairman of the New York State Thruway Authority, today announced the appointment of Dan Weiller to serve as the Director of Public Affairs for the New York State Thruway Authority and the New York State Canal Corporation.
The Thruway Authority operates the 570-mile Thruway and the 524-mile New York State Canal System.
One of Weiller's primary objectives will be communications relating to the New Tappan Zee Bridge project, one of the country's largest infrastructure projects.
"Dan Weiller is a seasoned media relations professional with a wide range of experience in and around the state government, and he will play a central role as we continue to move forward with the Tappan Zee Bridge project," said Chairman Milstein. "I welcome him to our communications team and look forward to working with him and his team to rebuild a stronger, safer and more reliable state."
Weiller said "I am grateful for the opportunity to return to work for the people of New York State, and all who depend on the Tappan Zee Bridge and the Thruway and Canal systems."
Weiller has been a communications consultant at Patricia Lynch Associates since 2010. He was previously press secretary to New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver. Weiller also served as a press officer in the Office of State Comptroller, and at the New York City Department of Juvenile Justice. He is a graduate of Tufts University.
