David Rice of Traverse City to perform in Olivet's 101st Commencement Concert

BOURBONNAIS, IL (04/24/2014)(readMedia)-- David Rice of Traverse City will perform as a featured soloist in Olivet Nazarene University's 101st Commencement Concert on Saturday, May 3, 2014, 7 p.m., at Kresge Auditorium in Larsen Fine Arts Center on Olivet's campus.

Nearly 40 Olivet students auditioned to perform as soloists. For this year's concert, the Department of Music faculty selected Rice based on his musical skills and accomplishments. A baritone, he will perform Rossini's Largo al Factotum (from Il barbiere di Siviglia).

The concert includes a varied classical music program accompanied by the University Orchestra with Dr. Neal Woodruff conducting.

"This year's program displays a wide variety of styles and moods," Dr. Woodruff said. "Selections include some of the time-honored standards of Western art music, as well as pieces by composers within the past decade."
