Deborah Bunn Hutchison Honored with Outstanding Service Award at William Woods University

FULTON, MO (05/10/2011)(readMedia)-- Deborah Bunn Hutchison of Santa Barbara, Calif., received the Outstanding Service Award at William Woods University's Alumni Weekend, April 15-17. A 1974 graduate from William Woods with a bachelor of arts degree in English, Hutchison is an author, film maker and entrepreneur.

The Outstanding Service Award, first presented in 1992, honors an alumnus for his or her many years of support in multifaceted areas and outstanding service to the university.

While in college, Hutchison was a member of Colonel's Twenty, Paddock Club, Student Educators and the Traveling Admissions Panel. She also served as public relations chair for the Campus Government Association.

In addition, Hutchison was Alpha Phi Pledge Class Secretary and Chapter Treasurer, a campus hostess, cheerleader, and little sis of Delta Tau Delta. Hutchison was honored as an Outstanding Junior, selected for Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities and appeared on the Achievement List.

Since her graduation, Hutchison has continued her active involvement with William Woods and has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 1997.

Her service to WWU includes a number of fundraising campaigns. She has served as a member of the Campaign Steering Committee for the Quasquicentennial Campaign, Chairwoman of 2X2 Campaign Steering Committee, a member of the Campaign Steering Committee for the L2 Campaign and Greek Committee Co-Chairwoman for the Alpha Phi Sorority for the Imagine Campaign.

Hutchison has donated significantly to William Woods University. She was a founding member of President's Club in 2006 and has given to the equestrian program. She has also supported the Brick Pathway Project, the Annual Fund, the L2 Campaign, and the Imagine Campaign.

She had given her time and talents in support of William Woods University – everything from leading a university campaign, to hosting an alumni gather and donating a walk-on part on the TV show Jag, to an Alumni Weekend auction.

Hutchison is the founder of Gutsy Gals Inspire Me (www.gutsygalsinspireme.com), an inspirational media company dedicated to promoting and nurturing positive female role models. She also writes the "Her Way" column for The Pacific Cost Business Times newspaper which profiles women business owners.

Hutchison is also the co-author of the book, "Put it in Writing: Creating Agreements Between Family and Friends," with Judge Lynn Toler of Divorce Court TV.
