Des Moines Education Support Professional receives award
Special education associate recognized for outstanding work
DES MOINES, IA (04/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Hoyt Middle School special education associate Annabelle Downey received the ISEA Education Support Professional Award, Thursday, April 11, at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Des Moines before a group of nearly 400 educators attending the Iowa State Education Association (ISEA) Delegate Assembly.
"We represent so many outstanding professionals and Annabelle is a wonderful example of someone who has gone above and beyond and truly exemplifies what it means to be a committed and caring professional. Annabelle's dedication to her students and devotion to building her local make her a gift to the community" said ISEA President Tammy Wawro.
As a special education associate, Annabelle assists with some of the most challenging students. She helps with classroom reading, re-working problems, or offering an extra hand to put on a coat or backpack. She is a strong and steady support where it is needed most.
"Annabelle is such a wonderfully caring and committed professional and we are proud she is a member of the Association. Annabelle embodies the Education Support Professional Award and we are pleased to be able to give her the recognition she so richly deserves," added Wawro.
The Education Support Professional Award was established to recognize the many contributions school support staff members make to teachers, students, and the education profession. Nominations were submitted online or by mail beginning October 1, 2012.
