Downtown Albany to Set the World Record for the Largest Group Singing Jingle Bells while Ringing Jingle Bells

ALBANY, NY (12/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Albany, NY... Downtown Albany's Jingle Elf Quest program, which began on December 5, 2012 will cap off on December 12, 2012 by setting a world record: gathering the largest group of people to sing the popular holiday classic Jingle Bells while ringing jingle bells. The record setting will take place in front of the Times Union Center on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 12:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public. All are encouraged to come out and assist in setting a high standard for this holiday record, and participate in a fun mid-day activity. Jingle bells are being provided to the public courtesy of B. Lodge and Co., who is celebrating 145 years in business at their Downtown location. The world record will be registered with recordsetter.com. Appearances by Mayor Gerald D. Jennings and Santa Claus are scheduled.
"Warm up your vocal chords - we are excited to see how large of a crowd this record setting effort will attract in Downtown," said Georgette Steffens, Executive Director of the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID), "This event offers a fun break for Downtown employees and Albany residents to come and experience part of their holiday season in festive downtown Albany."
Jingle Elf Quest is a free holiday scavenger hunt that calls on "elf seekers" to search for elves throughout Downtown. Hidden in plain sight inside of over 40 BID businesses and organizations, each elf found is a chance to win prizes. Participating businesses are identifiable by a distinct Jingle Elf Quest poster hanging in their storefront. The world record setting and Jingle Elf Quest are just one part of the BID's many initiatives to attract attention to Downtown retailers, businesses, and venues as well as engage Downtown employees.
