Dreshona Mapps-Whitmore nabs SAA weekly defensive honor

Junior defender Dreshona Mapps-Whitmore of the Oglethorpe women's lacrosse team was named SAA Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Monday. It marked the second such award of her career.

Mapps-Whitmore played outstanding defense in the Stormy Petrels' 9-6 season-opening win over Southern Wesleyan Saturday. She scooped five ground balls and caused six turnovers to help her team to victory. The six caused turnovers tied a career high for the Petrel defender.
