NEW STANTON, PA (11/10/2010)(readMedia)-- Motorists traveling eastbound on the Pennsylvania Turnpike mainline will encounter a single-lane pattern between the Warrendale Toll Plaza (Exit 31) and the Butler Valley Interchange (Exit 39). Weather permitting; the eastbound single-lane pattern between the interchanges will be in effect from 7 p.m. Fri., Nov. 12 until 2 p.m. Mon., Nov. 15. The eastbound express EZ-Pass lane at the Warrendale Toll Plaza will be closed during this 67 hour period.
The restriction is needed as part of the MP 31 to 38 total reconstruction project. The general contractor, Joseph B. Fay, will be performing construction activities in the eastbound lane, including temporary barrier movement and line painting and other work associated with a traffic stage switch. Once the contractor begins work the patterns must stay in effect until all work is completed.
Motorist traveling east on the Turnpike should be aware of the potential for delays during this 67 hour period with the heaviest delays anticipated for Monday morning.
Message boards and Highway Advisory Radio (1640 AM) messages will be used inform customers of the restriction.
