HOF Inductee Edward Albright

ALBANY, NY (06/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Peru resident Edward Albright was inducted into the Credit Union Association of New York's Hall of Fame at the Association's annual Convention held recently in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Hall of Fame honors are awarded to individuals who have devoted their lives to the philosophy and success of the credit union movement, and have had a significant impact on credit unions at the local, state or national level.

"From his efforts as a credit union leader to his commitment as a member of the state and nationwide credit union movements, Ed has truly exemplified the spirit of credit unions," said William J. Mellin, president/CEO of the Credit Union Association of New York.

For more than 25 years, Albright contributed his leadership, dedication and knowledge to the credit union movement. After working as a National Credit Union Administration examiner from 1974-1986, he became the manager/CEO and treasurer of Dannemora FCU. In addition to his responsibilities at Dannemora FCU, Albright served in multiple leadership roles for the Credit Union Association of New York and its Adirondack Chapter. He also distinguished himself as an active credit union advocate, serving as his Chapter's CULAC/CUPAC trustee and representing New York credit unions at federal and state governmental affairs conferences.

Since retiring from Dannemora FCU in 2004, Albright has remained dedicated to the credit union movement. He has also continued to advocate for the future livelihood of credit unions, lending his insights and energies to key issues like the corporate credit union system.

Whether providing consultation, guidance or auditing services, Albright is always willing to assist a credit union or individual in need. In fact, when Dannemora FCU was recently left without a CEO, Albright "came out of retirement" and resumed his role as CEO for nine months until a new leader could be hired.

The Credit Union Association of New York has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 94 years. New York credit unions have assets of more than $53 billion and serve 4.5 million members. To learn more about the Association, visit www.cuany.org.
