Emma Willard School Appoints Angeline Eveleens to the Board of Trustees

TROY, NY (10/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Emma Willard School, one of the nation's leading college preparatory boarding and day schools for young women, has appointed Ansje Alide (Angeline) Eveleens to the position of Parent Trustee to the school's Board of Trustees.

Eveleens began her career with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and later became a senior nuclear safeguards assistant at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where she compiled dossiers on specific countries' nuclear activities. She also worked as a nuclear material accounting assistant, taking inventories of countries' weapons-useable nuclear material. Eveleens built the IAEA's "Illicit Trafficking Database in Nuclear Materials and Radioactive Substances," which remains a primary reference point for analyzing nuclear smuggling. In 2005, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded jointly to Director General Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei and the IAEA "for their efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is used in the safest possible way."

Head of School Trudy Hall said, "Angeline Eveleens brings an international perspective and keen attention to detail to the board. Her efforts will greatly enhance our school's oversight, improving Emma Willard now, but also for future generations of Emma women."

Eveleens, who was born and raised in The Netherlands, is fluent in Dutch, German, and English, and is currently studying French. She lives in Troy, NY with her husband, Laban Coblentz, and their daughter, Claire '13.
