Emma Willard School Appoints Jane Freedman '86 to Board of Trustees

TROY, NY (10/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Emma Willard School, one of the nation's leading college preparatory boarding and day schools for young women, has appointed Jane Freedman '86 as a Trustee and President of the Alumnae Association Council.

Freedman graduated from Wellesley College cum laude and received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School cum laude. Freedman was an associate at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP in Boston, Massachusetts, and senior counsel at Raytheon Company. She later joined OneBeacon Insurance Group, Ltd. as associate general counsel, where she quickly became corporate secretary. At OneBeacon, she sits on the boards of all U.S. and non-U.S. subsidiaries and advises the public company board of directors and executives on corporate, securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and executive compensation matters.

She is a member of several bar associations and the Boston Club's NextGen Leaders. She also serves as co-chair of the Association of Corporate Counsel, New England Chapter, Women's Initiative. She is a frequent speaker and panelist at various bar and industry conferences. She and her husband, Jeff, live in Newton, Massachusetts, and have a daughter, Julia, and a son, Joshua.
