Endicott Man Who Reported Motorcycle Stolen Arrested
NEW YORK, NY (11/12/2009)(readMedia)-- An Endicott man who falsely reported his motorcycle stolen and then sold it was arrested Nov. 6 and charged with insurance fraud, the New York State Insurance Department reported.
Robert J. Wagner, also known as RJ Wagner, 31, of Adams Street, was arrested by Endicott police following an investigation by Mark S. Howard of the Insurance Department's Frauds Bureau.
Howard said his investigation determined that Wagner sold the motorcycle five months after reporting it stolen to State Farm Insurance Company. The fraud was discovered when another individual attempted to obtain a title and register the motorcycle. Wagner was never paid for the claim he filed.
Wagner could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison if he is convicted. A hearing will be scheduled in Broome County Court. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michael A. Garzo.
