CHESTERTOWN, MD (12/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Washington College is pleased to announce that Eshan Patel '13 of Linthicum, MD is a recipient of a 2012-2013 Kappa Sigma Scholarship-Leadership Award. This year marks the 143rd anniversary of the American founding of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. On December 10th, the organization disbursed nearly $165,000 in scholarships to 300 candidates, recognizing them for their commitment to scholarship, leadership and service. The honor is reserved for less than 2% of Kappa Sigma undergraduates.
A biology and psychology double major with a minor in chemistry, Patel joined the Washington College chapter of Kappa Sigma in 2011. He has served as its social chair, vice-president of public relations, and pledge educator. On campus, Patel is also a resident assistant, a peer tutor, the president of the Health Occupations Students of America, the president of Omicron Delta Kappa, the vice-president of Order of Omega, a student representative for Sigma Xi, a Presidential Fellow, a John S. Toll Science and Mathematics Fellow, and a member of the Douglass Cater Society of Junior Fellows, Beta Beta Beta, Psi Chi, and Gamma Sigma Epsilon. He also serves on the Relay for Life Committee of Colleges Against Cancer. Patel graduated from Old Mill High School.
