Lizbeth Ramos Receives Top Award for Outstanding Work
DES MOINES, IA (04/12/2012)(readMedia)-- Estherville Lincoln Central Community School District Parent Contact Coordinator, Lizbeth Ramos, is this year's winner of the Paul Mann Memorial Human Relations Award presented by the Iowa State Education Association (ISEA). Ramos will be honored Thursday, April 12, at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Des Moines before a group of nearly 400 educators who will attend the annual ISEA Delegate Assembly.
As the Parent Contact Coordinator, Ramos is responsible for interpreting and translating meetings, documents, and all written materials for second language students' families. Ramos works with teachers and administrators in the district to ensure second language parents understand communication that is sent home or distributed at meetings and conferences.
"Lizbeth goes above and beyond her responsibilities by making herself available 24/7. She is a staunch ally to all parents and goes out of her way to help students succeed," said Chris Bern, president of the ISEA. "The Paul Mann Memorial Human Relations Award is about giving back to those in need and helping people succeed in the classroom and in the community. Lizbeth certainly embodies this award with her hard work and efforts on the job and the trust she has earned in the community," added Bern. "The ISEA is proud to present Lizbeth with the Paul Mann Award."
The Paul Mann Memorial Human Relations Award honors an individual or group for exemplary contributions toward the advancement of human and civil rights. It is named in memory of Paul Mann, a veteran Des Moines teacher and human rights activist who passed away suddenly in September of 2006.
The ISEA is a professional organization made up of nearly 34,000 educations dedicated to supporting and protecting a quality public education for all Iowa students. Great Education. It's an Iowa Basic!
