CAZENOVIA, NY (06/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Every year, one senior is nominated from each program in Cazenovia College's Art and Design Division who best exemplifies the hard work and dedication put forth throughout his or her academic career, and outstanding achievement within their particular discipline.
Among the nominees was Felicity Jones, of Hartford, N.Y., for the visual communications program, who ultimately received the Art and Design Division Award.
Evaluation of the candidates is based on resume and portfolio, capstone paper, a visual representation of the body of work at Cazenovia, a written artist's statement, and a ten-minute presentation. The nomination is a high honor and allows the five students to mount a display of their collective works as well as their senior project in the Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall.
For these students it is an opportunity to be recognized for all their hard work and dedication over the past four years and be able to showcase their incredible talent. Representatives from all five programs jury the presentations and evaluate the student candidates' mounted work in the gallery, ultimately choosing one student to represent the Art and Design Division as a whole.
According to Laurabeth Allyn, interim director of fashion studies and chair of the award selection committee, "this year's candidates were extremely qualified and showcased a vast amount of talent and professionalism; the decision on who would represent the Art and Design Division as a whole was very close and they should all be extremely proud of their accomplishments."
