QUEENS, NY (07/30/2012)(readMedia)-- Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic Health Plan, is pleased to announce that Dr. Juliet Nevins has been named Associate Medical Director for Quality Health Care Management. Dr. Nevins is responsible for reviewing clinical information to ensure that the appropriate level of care is being delivered to members. In addition, Dr. Nevins is responsible for initiating policies that will result in greater efficiency in utilization management. She is based out of Fidelis Care's Rego Park office.
Before joining Fidelis Care, Dr. Nevins was on staff at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, where she gained extensive knowledge in serving the medical needs of high risk populations. Previous to her tenure with Lutheran Medical Center, she was a partner in a private practice in New Jersey.
Dr. Nevins holds a Bachelor's degree from Vassar College, a Masters in Public Administration from New York University, and completed medical school at the University of Virginia. She is a board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist, an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists' Committee for Healthcare for Underserved Women, and a member of the American Medical Writers Association.
Dr. Nevins was born in Jamaica, West Indies, and emigrated to the United States at the age of ten. The family chose Brooklyn as their new home. Dr. Nevins, her son, parents, and siblings continue to call New York City home.
