NEW YORK, NY (02/28/2012)(readMedia)-- Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic Health Plan, is proud to join with PS-130, and the Salvation Army's New York Chinatown Corps & Community Services Center, to inform the Asian-American community about affordable health insurance options available through Fidelis Care.

New York City is home to nearly 1.3 million uninsured adults between the ages of 19 and 64, and more than 160,000 uninsured children under the age of 19. Included in these numbers are approximately 78,000 uninsured Asian-Americans, 83% of which are immigrants.

At the following events, Fidelis Care representatives will be available to help local residents apply for coverage, and to help current Fidelis Care members complete their annual recertification:

Fidelis Care representatives will be joined by a Health Educator from Charles B. Wang Community Health Center to present Health Insurance and Medicare Educational Events

Those unable to attend one of these events are encouraged to call Fidelis Care at 1-888-FIDELIS (1-888-343-3547) to make an appointment at a convenient time and location, including in the comfort and privacy of an applicant's home.

Fidelis Care offers free or low-cost health insurance through New York State's Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, and Medicaid Managed Care programs. Members are covered for regular checkups, preventive care, routine screenings, hospital and emergency care, eye exams, dental care, and more. In addition, Fidelis Care also offers a variety of benefit options for seniors through Fidelis Medicare Advantage, Dual Advantage, Medicaid Advantage Plus, and Fidelis Care at Home programs, available in certain counties.

To apply for enrollment in Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, or Medicaid Managed Care through Fidelis Care, please bring proof of age, income, and address.
