OSWEGO, NY (01/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic Health Plan, is pleased to welcome Stephanie Martilotta as the Senior Marketing Representative serving the residents, community partners, and providers of Oswego County. In this role, Stephanie is working to raise awareness of the plight of the uninsured, particularly the 12,000 uninsured residents of Oswego County, and to educate the public on New York State government insurance programs that can provide access to quality, affordable care for people of all ages.
Born and raised in Camillus, NY, Stephanie attended West Genesee High School and went on to graduate from the State University of New York at Oswego. After graduating from SUNY Oswego, Stephanie went to work for Total Care, where she served in a variety of roles over a period of nearly 13 years.
"The residents of Oswego are important to me, having lived and worked in the area for my entire adult life," said Martilotta. "My mission is to ensure that every resident who needs health insurance has access to it. When people think of quality health care, I want them to think of Fidelis Care, and our network of outstanding providers and community partners."
Fidelis Care has offered quality, affordable insurance to the residents of Oswego County since 1997, and enjoys strong partnerships with many of the leading providers and community-based organizations in Oswego County, including Oswego County Opportunities, the Pulaski Health Center, Catholic Charities, and the Salvation Army. Fidelis Care staff regularly offer enrollment events at Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army, where the uninsured can learn about available programs, and receive assistance in applying for coverage. Existing Fidelis Care members can receive assistance with their annual recertification at these events as well.
Fidelis Care also works with educators and parents in the Oswego School District. More than 1,600 of Oswego County's 12,000 uninsured residents are children under the age of 19. With Medicaid Managed Care and New York State's Child Health Plus programs, nearly every child in the state qualifies for coverage regardless of family income, so there is no reason for so many children to remain uninsured.
Ms. Martillota operates out of Fidelis Care's Central Regional Office; 5010 Campuswood Drive in Syracuse and can be reached at (315) 437-1835.
Fidelis Care offers free or low-cost health insurance through New York State's Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, and Medicaid Managed Care programs. Members are covered for regular checkups, preventive care, routine screenings, hospital and emergency care, eye exams, dental care, and more. In addition, Fidelis Care also offers a variety of benefit options for seniors through Fidelis Medicare Advantage, Dual Advantage, Medicaid Advantage Plus, and Fidelis Care at Home programs, available in certain counties.
With nearly 730,000 members in 58 counties statewide, Fidelis Care is the largest government programs-based health insurance provider in New York State. Members have access to a provider network of more than 48,000 health care professionals statewide.
Regional offices are located in Syracuse, Albany, Amherst, and Rego Park (Queens), with satellite offices in Rochester, Poughkeepsie, and Suffern.
Local residents who need health insurance, or current Fidelis Care members who need help with their annual recertification, should call 1-888-FIDELIS (1-888-343-3547).
