ALBANY, NY (03/03/2011)(readMedia)-- Hoffman Warnick LLC (HW), an intellectual property law firm headquartered in Albany, NY with another office in Rochester, NY, has released the Rochester Patent Index for Fourth Quarter 2010. The "Rochester Patent Index" includes data for Monroe and Ontario Counties with and without XEROX and KODAK.

In the fourth quarter, it can be seen that the number of patents granted in the Rochester area continued to grow, while the national number fell for the second straight quarter. In addition, while XEROX and KODAK continued to remain strong, patent issuances from other companies in the regions stayed the same. "The fact that Rochester's patent growth has outpaced the national numbers is a very positive signal for the region," stated Michael Hoffman. "We expect growth in technology businesses within the region to follow suit."
