Fourth Quarter and 2011 Annual Report for Tech Valley Patent Indices

ALBANY, NY (01/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Hoffman Warnick LLC (HW), an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY, has released the 2011 Fourth Quarter and Annual Report Tech Valley Patent Indices. The "Tech Valley Patent Indices" includes data for the Capital Region (Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties), Tech Valley, Tech Valley without IBM and GE, and the Capital Region without GE.

The fourth quarter Tech Valley Patent Index was down significantly from last quarter. Spencer Warnick, partner at Hoffman Warnick, asserts that the Capital Region Indices remain strong. While the indices were down significantly, the drop is commensurate with the National number, which was also down significantly.

The "Patent of the Quarter" is chosen to illustrate firsthand the creativity of Tech Valley inventors. The fourth quarter POQ is: US Patent No. 8,083,434 B1, issued to Albert Mark Gorman, Paul Anthony Gorman, Douglas Jones and John Dearborn for "Pavement Rehabilitation Using Cold In-Place Asphalt Pavement Recycling". The patent issued December 27, 2011 and is assigned to Gorman Bros., Inc., a client of Hoffman Warnick.

With regard to the 2011 Annual Report, the Capital Region and the Capital Region independent of GE patent indices both set new highs, indicating the Capital Region is contributing more to Tech Valley innovation.
