Fresh and Fly Celebrates New Location in the Heart of Downtown Albany

ALBANY, NY (09/20/2012)(readMedia)-- Angelo Maddox, Owner of Fresh and Fly, announces a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration at their new location 13 South Pearl Street, Albany, New York on Thursday, September 20, 2012 beginning at 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Refreshments, a DJ, give-a-ways and special promotions are planned. The event is free and open to the public. Mayor Gerald D. Jennings is scheduled to speak.

Maddox opened his first urban retail store Young, Fresh and Fly in the Coliseum on South Pearl in July 2006 and expanded by opening a women's boutique, Fancy, in April 2011. The new storefront at 13 South Pearl combines the two storefronts into one larger cohesive location. A decision that Maddox believes will attract new clients as well as enhance existing relationships.

"We are looking to join other successful Downtown retailers and connect with the daytime worker, residents and visitors," says Maddox, "The staff is committed to being open to suggestions and increasing the current product lines carried by Fresh & Fly such as urban, sports and business casual clothing, footwear, and accessories for men, women and children."

"The BID created a downtown retail committee this year and Angelo is an active member," explains Georgette Steffens, Executive Director, Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID), "During one of the meetings, a map highlighting all the available retail property in Downtown was being examined and Angelo quickly identified the opportunity. The BID introduced Angelo to The Swyer Companies and the two parties worked quickly to make the transaction."

"We are impressed with how The Coliseum on South Pearl is continually incubating retailers and offering opportunity," said Jennings, "Fresh and Fly's relocation has encouraged another Downtown retailer, a book store, to grow and take over their storefront at the Coliseum. I believe that their presence in downtown Albany will be a compliment to the needs of the growing Downtown residential community as well as an inspiration for other retailers looking to locate and tap into a boutique business."

"Fresh and Fly is 100% focused," explains Maddox, "We research the business and deal directly with our clients and their needs. This relocation is a celebration of our success as a retailer and being authentic to our brand - giving customers an experience that they enjoy and products that they want to purchase."

Open seven days a week, Fresh and Fly's hours are Monday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Sunday Noon to 5:00 PM. For more information contact 518.542.2174.
