BATAVIA, NY (06/16/2017) (readMedia)-- GCC head baseball coach Skip Sherman recently announced the signing of Matthew Chadwick (Avoca), who will join the Cougars baseball program beginning this fall. Chadwick was a member of the Avoca Central High School varsity baseball team for five years and was selected a league all-star four times.

"I am really looking forward to having Matt play for us at Genesee," Sherman said. "I have watched him over the last couple of seasons and he has impressed me with his leadership and his level of play. He will be a great asset to our program."

Named league most valuable baseball player in 2016, Chadwick also started for the No. 1 boys' basketball team at Avoca and played in the Exceptional Senior game as a soccer player. He will join Genesee after helping the Avoca baseball team to the sectional semifinals and 11 wins this year.

Genesee won 32 games this spring, setting a new school record. The Cougars advanced to the Region III Final Four as the No. 2 seed and finished in third at the championships.
