GCC's Albion and Medina Campus Centers Announce Students and Instructors of the Semester

Pam Lusk, Albion Campus Center Instructor of the Semester for Fall 2013

BATAVIA, NY (12/12/2013)(readMedia)-- Albion and Medina, NY- The Albion and Medina Campus Centers of Genesee Community College are pleased to announce the Fall 2013 Students and Instructors of the Semester. Each semester, one student and one instructor at each campus center are awarded the honor for outstanding academic or teaching performance.

The Albion Campus Center is pleased to announce that Pam Lusk of Albion has been selected as the Instructor of the Semester for Fall 2013. Pam teaches Introduction to Healthful Living, Psychology, and Sociology at the Albion Campus Center. She also teaches College Today classes for local high school students and she is an adjunct for Empire State College. Pam attended both SUNY Brockport and Cornell University. During that time, she earned a B.S. in Health Education, an M.S. in Health Administration and a Ph.D. in Psychology and Human Development. Students in Pam's classes appreciate her ability to make them think about themselves, their behaviors and their environment, as well as her genuine care and concern for their well-being. She is a dedicated teacher and a valued member of the Albion Campus Center team.

The Medina Campus Center is pleased to announce that Holly Dawson has been awarded the Instructor of the Semester for Fall 2013. Holly teaches history courses at GCC Medina and Erie Community College. Students describe her as a "phenomenal" and enthusiastic teacher who makes history interesting and fun. Holly finds teaching at the Medina Campus Center a "pleasure." She calls it "one of the best and most positive environments to work in." Married for 29 years, Holly has two sons and is very involved with Boy Scouting as a merit badge counselor. She resides in North Tonawanda, NY.

The Albion Campus Center is pleased to announce that Steven Barney of Holley has been selected as the Student of the Semester for Fall 2013. Steven is a full-time student studying Criminal Justice at the Albion Campus. The instructor who nominated Steven states "he is a motivation to others due to his degree of overall improvement." Steven says his grandfather has most influenced his life and he's enjoying meeting new people and starting a whole new chapter in his life at GCC.

The Medina Campus Center is pleased to announce that Jordan Chinn of Medina is the Student of the Semester for Fall 2013. Jordan is studying Business Administration and Accounting. He hopes to continue his education at Louisiana State University and one day dreams of working for Nike, to indulge his love of shoes. Jordan calls himself "very determined" and the faculty and staff at the Medina Campus Center agree. Among their comments about Jordan: "[He] strives to learn more," "His enthusiasm rubs off on all in the class," "He is a mentor to others," and "He is a pleasure to have in class." Jordan's best advice to new college students is to use a planner! Jordan is a goal-setter who ultimately wants to be "happy, successful, a mentor, involved in [my] community and leave a lasting impression of being a 'great guy!'"
