BATAVIA, NY (05/11/2017) (readMedia)-- Albion and Medina, NY- The Albion and Medina Campus Centers of Genesee Community College are pleased to announce the Spring 2017 Students and Instructors of the Semester. ALBION CAMPUS CENTER

Theresa Ames has been selected as the Spring 2017 Instructor of the Semester at the Albion Campus Center. Nominated by several students, each noted Theresa's ability to know just when a student was struggling as revealed in the following nomination comments: "She may know we need help by the puzzled look on our face or the big exhale she might hear. She will sit down and explain the problem and give easy ways to remember how to work a problem." "She seems interested in my future and encourages me to do my best," noted one student while another shared that, "She always makes me feel more confident about achieving my goals." A graduate of Albion High School, Theresa attended Alfred University and SUNY Brockport for her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. She currently teaches at Royalton Hartland High School, and MAT 091 and MAT 092 for Genesee Community College. Theresa enjoys spending time with Floyd the Corgi and her hobbies include gardening and crocheting rugs. She notes that her favorite TV program is Blue Bloods and that her most recent favorite books include The Shack and The Purpose of a Dog. When considering her most rewarding teaching experience, Theresa noted that, "Any time I see a light go on in a student's eyes, I feel rewarded." Theresa resides in Albion, New York.

Andrew Dusett has been selected as the Spring 2017 Student of the Semester at the Albion Campus Center. As his nominating instructor explained, "Andrew is a fantastic contributor to class. He answers almost every question I've put to the class and his opinions and insights into class topics have elevated the classroom discussions and often helped to move the focus to a new area. Andrew is not shy in expressing his dissenting opinion about something, but it is rarely a short retort. It often carried the groundwork for more detailed discussion and can build toward a new class consensus on issues." Andrew is a full-time Criminal Justice major who has completed a co-op experience with the Orleans County Sheriff's Department. He cites sports, the outdoors and his parents as major influences in his life. Anticipating graduation in May, he hopes to take Civil Service exams until he secures a position as a police officer. Andrew resides in Waterport, New York.

He earned a AAS degree in Data Processing from SUNY GCC, and his BA and MA degrees in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from SUNY Brockport. Kevin enjoys writing poetry, singing and taking care of his lawn.
