GCC's Annual Encore Sets the New Richard C. Call Arena Aglow

Attendees Enjoy a Fresh Spin on the Traditional Holiday Event

BATAVIA, NY (12/07/2018) The Richard C. Call Arena at Genesee Community College was aGLOW last Saturday night as the College hosted its 27th Encore Gala for the great cause of supporting student scholarships. Inspired by Encore co-chairs Tom and Kim Cox, the theme of this year's event was "let it GLOW," a playful yet meaningful pun on words reflecting GCC's four-county service area of Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming (GLOW) counties.

Mr. and Mrs. Cox promised an all-new event and they surely delivered on that promise. At the new location in the Richard C. Call Arena guests were welcomed by the sounds of DSP Jazz Trio, then enjoyed a formal sit-down dinner, and finally dancing to the music provided by nationally renowned band, Nik and the Nice Guys. Approximately 325 guests attended the event.

Among the top sponsors of "let it GLOW" were Five Star Bank, Tompkins Insurance Agencies and Tompkins Bank of Castile, Clark Patterson Lee, Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral and Cremation Chapel - Dibble Family and Event Center, SJF Construction, Inc., and VSP Graphic Group.

"The Encore committee really embraced the new location in the Call Arena and made the whole event glow," Tammy Arneth, GCC's director of Development and Alumni Affairs said. "From the lights and decorations, to the unity of being all together under one roof, the talent of the performers and the energy on the dance floor-this was an Encore to remember. But, beyond all of the fun and glam of the event, I am proud to see that the community believes in GCC and the future of our students. The scholarships funded and the students supported by this event will change lives and significantly impact our community for decades to come.
