GCC's Brandon Henshaw named Region III Division III Baseball Player of the Year

BATAVIA, NY (05/22/2017) (readMedia)-- Genesee sophomore infielder Brandon Henshaw (Brockport) has been named the Region III Division III Player of the Year for 2017, headlining the list of all-region selections, which were announced by the region on Monday.

Henshaw was among the leaders in multiple offensive categories this spring and led the region in total his with 71. He hit .447 in 159 at bats, the second best regional batting average and was tied for fourth in runs batted in with 42.

Henshaw set the GCC single season record for most hits, most at bats (159) and most runs scored (57), and leaves the College as the all-time hits leader (116), career batting average leader (.417) and scored the most career runs with 88. He was named to the all-region first team as a freshman in 2015 before sitting out all of 2016 with an injury.

Genesee ended its season with a 32-20 overall record, the highest spring win total in school history and advanced to the Region III Final Four.
