BATAVIA, NY (06/21/2017) (readMedia)-- A record breaking season that garnered GCC infielder Brandon Henshaw (Brockport) Region III Player of the Year honors has ended with one of the highest accolades a player can receive, a place on the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American First Team. The announcement and full list of All-Americans were released by the NJCAA on Tuesday.

Henshaw broke the school record with 71 hits the spring, the most in a single season at GCC and a top 30 hits total in the country. He held a .447 batting average in 159 at bats, hit four home runs and drove in 42 runs. He played in 51 of Genesee's 52 games in 2017.

In addition to the single season hits record, Henshaw will leave the baseball program at GCC as the all-time career hits leader with 116, all-time batting average leader with a .417 average, and all-time runs scored leader with 88. He began his career at Genesee in 2015 when he was named first team all-region before missing the 2016 due to injury.

Genesee ended its season with a 32-20 overall record and advanced to the Region III Final Four, finishing in third place. The wins total set the school record for most wins during a spring season in school history.

Henshaw has committed to St. Bonaventure University where he will continue his academic and athletic career beginning in the fall. The Bonnies are NCAA Division I members of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
