BATAVIA, NY (05/25/2012)(readMedia)-- Medina, NY- The Medina Campus Center of Genesee Community College is proud to announce the spring 2012 Instructor and Student of the Semester. Jennifer Zebrowski-Young has been named the Instructor of the Semester and Sandra Bennett has been named Student of the Semester.
Jennifer Zebrowski-Young of Lockport, NY, is a gifted teacher, whose students may enter the class with a negative attitude toward chemistry but they leave with an appreciation of the joy of science because of their instructor's methods and passion for the subject. "She has a way of teaching difficult concepts with ease and making her class interesting and fun!" commented one student in Ms. Zebrowski-Young's class. Her undergraduates also appreciate her dedication, including meeting with them after class to answer questions and going above and beyond expectations.
Jenn earned two master's degrees from the University of Buffalo: an M.A. in Organic Chemistry and an M.S. in Medicinal Chemistry. "I find it very rewarding to end the semester with a group of students who have a better understanding and appreciation of how chemistry impacts their daily lives. To be able to share this exciting science with others is a great reward in itself!"
Student Sandra Bennett of Medina, NY, has been taking classes part-time at the Medina Campus Center for several years, juggling her home life with classes and her job as a human resource supervisor at Brunner International in Medina. This month, she earned her associate's degree in business administration. One of the teachers who nominated Sandra, GCC instructor LuAnn Tierney, said, "Sandra is very hard working. And not only does she continuously look for ways to improve herself, but she is very helpful to other students." Ms. Bennett says she is honored to be selected as Student of the Semester. "I will be taking with me a wealth of knowledge and a great appreciation and respect for all my professors."
