ESPERANCE, NY (01/10/2011)(readMedia)-- The George Landis Arboretum George is pleased to announce its receipt of a grant award in the amount of $15,000 from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation through the Zoos, Botanical Gardens and Aquariums Program. These funds were awarded for the Arboretum's work to advance the critical goal of educating New York residents and visitors about the diversity and beauty of the natural world, by stewarding and interpreting living collections of plants and animals. This grant is to be used toward general operating costs. The ZBGA grants are funded through an annual appropriation from the state Environmental Protection Fund. If the ZBGA appropriation remains the same in fiscal years 2011-13, this grant amount will be automatically renewed in each of the next two fiscal years, resulting in a total award of $45,000.
