SAVANNAH, GA (03/12/2013)(readMedia)-- Glen Burnie native, 2005 North County High School graduate, and SCAD Atlanta fashion student Christian Harris has been selected for the M. Jack Anderson Emerging Talent Award, which recognizes students who have excelled academically and distinguished themselves as creative innovators in the field of fashion design.

Harris's family, particularly his Uncle Jon, was a big factor in his decision to pursue fashion at SCAD. "He didn't go to school for design but he is a naturally gifted artist and visionary," Harris said. "He unknowingly planted the seed that would become my love for design."

To receive the M. Jack Anderson Emerging Talent honors, students were challenged to create a day, evening or 'wild card' design, and describe their design philosophy, elements of their design, and finally, their aspirations and use for the award scholarship. This is the second consecutive year SCAD students have taken all three awards.

The M. Jack Anderson Emerging Talent Award was established in honor of the late M. Jack Anderson, brother of noted philanthropist and Fine Art + Fashion chair, Sandra Anderson Baccus. The award scholarship has become synonymous with creativity and cutting-edge design for students.
