ALBANY, NY (03/22/2012)(readMedia)-- Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Rose Harvey announced that New York State Park golf courses in the Hudson Valley are opening for the season – with new lower rates in effect at Rockland Lake State Park.
"Our fine spring weather provides a great opportunity to check out one of our wonderful State Park golf courses," Commissioner Harvey said. "State Park golf courses are opening up early this year, and offer great value as well as some of the most challenging play in the country. We hope to see our regular golfers and many new visitors hitting the links soon."
To remain competitive, greens fees at Rockland Lake State Park have been reduced by $1 to $3 across the board. Weekend greens fees for 18 holes at the Championship Course were reduced from $39 to $36, and $22 to 20 on the Executive Course. Greens fees vary, so parks officials recommend golfers contact each course for current fees and reservations. Rates are also listed on the agency's website, www.nysparks.com.
Changes in weather may impact operating schedules and anticipated opening dates. Golfers are advised to call ahead if there is a question about course conditions.
