Gov Issues EO About New Early Voting Options, VoteEarlyNY Pushes Folks to Cast Ballots Before E-Day

NEW YORK, NY (08/25/2020) (readMedia)-- Last night, Governor Cuomo issued an executive order that requires local Boards of Elections to notify voters about their voting options ahead of Election 2020. In response, Jarret Berg, co-founder of VoteEarlyNY, issued the following statement:

"Governor Cuomo's recent executive order provides crucial protection for voters, while spreading the word about one of the safest and most secure options voters have to cast a ballot this Fall: early voting. Because of the recent action VoteEarlyNY took, voters in all counties outside New York City can vote at any early voting site in their county. We are pleased to see the Governor promoting early voting and encourage folks to avoid lines and crowds by casting their ballot early."

Earlier this month, VoteEarlyNY, joined by Common Cause/NY and the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law, sent demand letters to Orange, Westchester, and Albany County Boards of Elections insisting that they bring their early voting program into compliance with the new law ahead of the Fall. All three agreed.
