Governor Culver to speak at ISEA's Summer Leadership Conference
Culver will address 300 participants attending annual leadership event
DES MOINES, IA (07/30/2010)(readMedia)-- Iowa Governor Chet Culver will address more than 300 Iowa education leaders on Wednesday, August 4, in Storm Lake.
Culver is scheduled to speak about his education priorities at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the annual summer leadership conference of the Iowa State Education Association (ISEA) on the campus of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
The ISEA recently recommended that its members support Culver's 2010 re-election campaign.
This decision was made following separate interviews with both Culver and his opponent. Each responded to identical questions that covered a broad range of education issues.
During Culver's interview, he pledged to continue to keep his commitment to making teacher salaries a priority (Iowa recently moved to 26th in the nation up from 42nd in fiscal year 2005); utilizing our education professionals' vast experience and expertise by placing us at the table when discussions and decisions are being made on education reform issues; and ensuring his commitment to a world-class education for Iowa's public school children.
The recommendation decision was made by a vote of the ISEA-PAC Central Committee, which is made up of two Democrats and two Republicans from each of the ISEA's 19 regions. The ISEA Executive Board concurred with the decision.
The Iowa State Education Association is a professional association made up of more than 34,000 educators who are dedicated to promoting and preserving quality public education for all students.
