GEORGETOWN, TX (05/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Georgetown (Texas) – Gus Brunger of Castle Rock, Colo. excelled in the his first season of college lacrosse at Southwestern University, being selected to the All-SCAC Second Team.
Brunger routinely started things off for Southwestern, manning the faceoffs. He won 77 of 172 faceoffs this year, seventh most in the conference and recorded 21 goals and five assists in 16 games. Brunger had a season high four goals and two assists in April 10 game against Oglethorpe University.
Brunger is the son of Paul and Sharon Brunger. He is a graduate of Castle View High School, where he was a three-year letterman in lacrosse and Tennis.
The Pirates closed out the season in fourth place in the conference with a 7-9 overall record, 4-3 in the SCAC and earned a bid to the first-ever SCAC Conference Tournament where they were narrowly defeated 10-4 by Colorado College.
