Honors Awarded at State Fair Gelbvieh Show

DES MOINES, IA (09/03/2009)(readMedia)-- Circle S Ranch of Canton, Kan. earned Grand Champion Bull honors in the Gelbvieh Cattle Show August 21 at the 2009 Iowa State Fair. C & E Gelbvieh of Decorah captured Reserve Champion and Iowa Champion Bull honors.

3G Ranch of Kendallville, Ind. captured the Grand Champion Female award while Reserve Grand Champion Female was awarded to Jason Sauer of Winona, Minn.

Iowa Champion Female honors went to Cib's Gelbvieh of Clutier. The Iowa Champion banners are given to the highest placing Iowa bred and owned entries in the show.

The Iowa State Fair Gelbvieh Show has two divisions of classes for the Gelbvieh breed. The Gelbvieh classes are for high percentage and purebred females and bulls. The Balancer classes are for cattle that have at least 50 percent documented Gelbvieh pedigree.
