Credit Union Association of New York's 2011 Outstanding Young Professional Jessica Herishko, loan officer, Columbia Greene Federal Credit Union

ALBANY, NY (06/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Jessica Herishko, Hudson resident and loan officer of Columbia Greene Federal Credit Union, was named the 2011 Outstanding Young Professional by the Credit Union Association of New York at their 2011 Annual Meeting and Convention held recently in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The Outstanding Young Professional Award was created this year to recognize the professionalism and contributions of the next generation of credit union leaders, age 35 and under.

"Jessica's dedication and contributions to Columbia Greene and her community have furthered credit union's 'people helping people' philosophy," said the Association's President/CEO William J. Mellin.

Herishko began working for Columbia Greene FCU at the young age of 22. Now, seven years later, she has distinguished herself as an exemplary young professional. In 2010, she was instrumental in the credit union's implementation of a new, in-house debit and credit card system. After single-handedly learning the system, she began managing the program and now handles all aspects of its operation. In addition to this significant undertaking, Herishko took the initiative to form and lead a new Employee Activity Committee to complement the spirit of teamwork through fun and interactive activities at the credit union.

Herishko is also an active participant in both the credit union movement and her community. As a member of the Credit Union Association of New York's Young Professionals Commission, she contributes ideas and insights to the Association and her credit union. She has also taught financial education lessons in the Hudson City School District, shared opportunities and life experiences with at-risk young women at St. Anne Institute in Albany and supported local charities.

This summer, Herishko will earn her bachelor's degree in business by graduating from an aggressive, year-long online program. Although her career in the credit union movement is only beginning, she is already a true example of outstanding professionalism.

The Credit Union Association of New York has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 94 years. New York credit unions have assets of more than $53 billion and serve 4.5 million members. To learn more about the Association, visit www.cuany.org.
