Hudson River Community CU joins UsNet shared branching network

ALBANY, N.Y. – Credit union service organization UsNet, a provider of shared branching solutions, has added the Corinth, New York-based Hudson River Community Credit Union (HRCCU) to its shared branching network.

UsNet, which is owned by New York's credit unions and the New York Credit Union Association (NYCUA), provides shared branching services to participating credit unions as part of CO-OP Shared Branching's national network. Currently, more than 1,800 credit unions representing 52 million members participate in CO-OP Shared Branching, which is the third largest network of branches in the country (trailing only Wells Fargo and Chase).

HRCCU, with nearly $200 million in assets, joined the network as both an acquirer and issuer, and it is the first credit union in the Adirondack region to participate in the network. Under the agreement, members of other credit unions in the network will be allowed to perform transactions at HRCCU's five branch locations. Conversely, members of HRCCU will be permitted to perform transactions at more than 5,300 participating credit union shared branches nationwide.

"Shared branching is a unique and key component of the credit union business model, and the entire team at Hudson River Community Credit Union is pleased to provide this valuable new service to our nearly 24,000 members," said Sue Commanda, president and CEO of the credit union.

The new partnership with UsNet brings the total number of UsNet shared branches to 225, including 32 locations in New York's greater Capital Region.

"UsNet is proud to continue expanding the shared branching network by partnering with Hudson River Community Credit Union," said William J. Mellin, NYCUA president and CEO. "Thanks to this partnership, more New Yorkers now have unprecedented, critical access to the credit union system than ever before."
