LAKEVIEW, NY (09/04/2009)(readMedia)-- The Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York (IOGA of NY), together with the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development, will host a public information session to address the environmental, scientific and economic aspects of natural gas exploration. The session will take place:

"Natural gas is one of the cleanest, most abundant, and affordable fuels available today," said Brad Gill, IOGA of NY executive director. "By increasing the production of this natural resource, we can improve our economy, increase tax revenues, create jobs, and bring our nation closer to energy independence. And all of this can be accomplished safely in an environmentally friendly way."
"The Sullivan County partnership for Economic Development believes strongly that if government and industry can collaborate to properly protect and preserve our environment, natural gas exploration in Sullivan County could create substantial economic benefits for our community," said Timothy S. McCausland, president of the Sullivan County Partnership.

"New York has some of the most rigorous environmental regulatory requirements in the county, which have quite literally shaped our industry here," said Gill. "These regulations will likely be even tougher when the DEC completes its comprehensive environmental review. This is something we do not take for granted - after all, we live, work and raise our families here too."
