Illinois National Guard Senior Leaders Place Wreath at Lincoln's Tomb

SPRINGFIELD, IL (02/12/2013)(readMedia)-- Senior leaders of the Illinois National Guard participated in wreath laying ceremony to mark the 79th Annual National American Legion Pilgrimage to the Tomb of Abraham Lincoln Feb. 12 in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
Brig. Gen. Daniel Krumrei of Springfield, the Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard and Command Sgt. Maj. Howard Robinson of Springfield, the State Senior Enlisted Adviser for the Illinois National Guard placed a wreath in Abraham Lincoln's Tomb on behalf of President Barack Obama to honor Lincoln on his 203rd birthday.
Lincoln served as a captain in the Illinois Volunteer Militia, today's Illinois National Guard during the Black Hawk War before being elected president of the United States.
