WHAT: • The Illinois National Guard will host a special ceremony to recognize Vietnam War veterans in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the conflict. • The ceremony is designed to recognize Vietnam Veterans who have played an important role in furthering the objectives of the Illinois National Guard through mentoring. • Serving National Guardsmen nominated the veterans to be recognized. • This ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Illinois State Military Museum’s Vietnam Encampment, where living historians will establish Fire Base Castle on the museum grounds to display equipment, uniforms and weapons used during the war. Event to take place 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
