SPRINGFIELD, IL (11/08/2017) (readMedia)-- The exhibit commemorates the 33rd Infantry Division's involvement in WWI and the individual acts of bravery shown on the battlefield. 2017 is the centennial commemoration of United States entry into World War I.

NOTES:

 The 33rd Infantry Division suffered nearly 1,000 killed and 5,871 wounded During WWI. They received 5,415 replacements. The Division is credited with 9 Medals of Honor, one of which is displayed at the Illinois State Military Museum. In addition to the 9 Medals of Honor, the Illinois National Guard’s 33rd Division received other awards including over 224 Distinguished Service Crosses, 143 Croix de Guerres from their French allies and 800 other citations for gallantry.
